    Payroll Specialist

    The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing both regular and union payrolls in a multi-state environment. The ideal candidate will need to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities while ensuring accurate and timely reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance with company policies and federal/state/local regulations. Must have the demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information, behaving with the highest level of integrity. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to execute tasks with a high attention to detail are requirements for this role. The applicant must exhibit the skills to collaborate within a team and interact within all levels of the organization. This position reports to the Payroll Manager.


    • Process bi-weekly payrolls for manufacturing, retail, and corporate employees
    • Ensures accurate and timely accounting, recordkeeping and management of payroll data
    • Partner with HR in the administration of employee benefits as they impact payroll, including but not limited to 401(k) and medical/dental/vision insurance premiums
    • Garnishment processing and recordkeeping
    • Uploads and audits all earnings, including hours worked, exception time, commissions and bonus payments
    • Process union payroll, execute union contracts, and provide required union reporting
    • Coordinate with manufacturing production team to process and audit piece rate payroll
    • Assist managers, supervisors and employees as they interface with ADP including time card approvals, password resets, and other system related issues/questions
    • Review and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions timely and accurately; take appropriate actions to mitigate future issues from arising
    • Responds to employment verifications
    • Assists the Payroll Manager as needed to meet department deadlines and commitments
    • Supports the implementation of payroll-related initiatives and projects


    • 3+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer service; interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
    • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Reporting (required)
    • Proficiency with MS Excel (vlookup, pivot table) and MS Word
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and tax laws, benefits administration, and compliance regulations surrounding payroll
    • Experience with union and piece rate payroll a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
