    The Engineering Manager is a key member of Filson’s Management team and reports directly to the Director of Production & Engineering.  They are responsible for overseeing the management of manufacturing, warehouse and distribution engineering team and will partner with the Product Development, Technical Development, Design, Planning and Sales teams to improve operational processes, increase efficiency, reduce cost, improve quality and achieve on time delivery.


    • Plan and advise on optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
    • Assist department managers to analyze KPIs
    • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
    • Oversee all costing of product to be manufactured on site, including new styles and updates on ongoing styles
    • Manage the production engineering team. Coach team members in identifying projects, establishing targets geared to process improvements, cost reduction, equipment acquisition based on justified business analysis, new equipment to meet service and volume expectations.
    • Ensure the engineering team partners with the management team to address and improve all floor related efficiency, layout, flow, standard conditions, quality and service goals.
    • Develop visible procedure and key performance indicators to monitor quality and regular measurements to determine effectiveness of procedures implemented.
    • Organize to service each business division while maintaining and improving overall operational and departmental efficiencies.
    • Participates on cross functional project management teams and provides direct support to the divisions as necessary
    • Initiate and coordinate major projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
    • Keep current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
    • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.


    • BS in engineering, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline.
    • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
    • 2+ years of experience managing a team.
    • Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles is preferred.
    • Experience of exposure to a union environment is preferred.
