Merchandising and Cost Analyst


  • Assist with competitive benchmarking, market research, and price analysis to provide support with seasonal new line planning
  • Analyze sales and customer trends to support making business decisions that maximize the business.
  • Proactively seek out new opportunities to grow the business
  • Assist Director of Merchandising in the development of seasonal business strategies by category to meet or exceed financial goals, margin goals, and drive increased margins
  • Support the Merchant team with data analysis that will drive sales and inventory turn
  • Prepare and analyze daily/weekly sales reports and propose appropriate actions
  • Collaborate with product development team to compile, analyze, and maintain accurate costs for all product
  • Prepare and analyze seasonal cost/margin reports and propose appropriate actions to improve business and margin growth
  • Provide finance team with up to date actual costs for new and carry over product
  • Maintain seasonal margin sheet with most updated information on a regular basis
  • Maintain product line sheets with most updated information on a regular basis
  • Manage updates to Line List including style adds, drops, price changes, product descriptions, and product costs
  • Regularly check reviews of our products on
  • Support Merchant team on the execution of corporate projects
  • Organize and Manage Merchant/Sales samples
  • Responsible for timely workflow of deliverables and timelines
  • Communicate changes in merchandise assortments and messaging to the appropriate members of the cross-functional team on a timely basis
  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional team members and brand counterparts


  • 3-5 years of retail, wholesale or ecommerce experience with product experience in apparel and/or luggage, bags and accessories a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Possess strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of fashion trends and how they relate to the Filson customer
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with cross functional teams
  • Commitment to learning and continuous development
  • Self-motivated - must be able to seek out new projects and tasks, desire to meet and exceed objectives
  • Detail oriented, ability to meet deadlines, adaptable to a rapidly changing environment
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency along with the ability to prioritize projects when necessary
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Power Point, and Word
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Solid Retail math skills (sales, gross margin, GMROI, DOH)
  • Passion for product
