    Responsibilities

    Catalog Merchandiser
    Responsible for merchandising Filson Catalogs to increase catalog sales and drive total company sales. Catalogs include all categories and products across Filson.

     

    • In partnership with the Director of Merchandising, create the merchandise list for each catalog including product assortment, item hierarchy, feature colors and photography shot lists.
    • Build product spreads that tell a cohesive story throughout the catalog, support key brand messages and meet financial objectives.
    • Develop rough thumbnail layouts to provide Catalog Art Director with general direction of the catalog content and recommended pagination.
    • Partner with Catalog Art Director throughout the catalog development process providing input on pagination, layouts, product features, copy needs, etc.
    • Ensure catalog content appropriately supports Marketing campaigns and new product launches.
    • Closely follow up with Merchandising Team to stay abreast of Specialty Product status - changes, drops, additions, late deliveries - and communicate to Art Director as needed.
    • Analyze and recap each catalog’s performance with comparisons to prior year. Document and share key take-aways with business stakeholders to ensure learnings and opportunities are recorded for following year.
    • Partner to create annual calendar and production budget reflecting recommended mail dates, page count, circulation, and print, paper and mailing costs.
    • Partner with Planning team to ensure appropriate stock levels and in stock status of products selected for each catalog. Communicate inventory-based changes as needed.
    • Partner in developing customer mailing list for each catalog.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of relevant experience required
    • BA/BS required
    • Demonstrated experience driving successful catalog merchandising strategies and ability to concept product stories
    • Strong understanding of Catalog KPIs and how to interpret them to drive sales
    • Ability to see the big picture. Balance financial goals while aligning with brand marketing and editorial visions
    • Ability to define merchandising strategies and execute implementation
    • Analytical and Creative. Equally at ease developing creative concepts and stories as well as digging into financial data to uncover new opportunities  
    • Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a fast-paced environment. Able to adeptly flex with changing priorities
    • Strong sense of urgency, time management and extreme attention to detail.
    • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
    • Tactical – taking merchandise and laying it out
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while effectively meeting deadlines
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office
