    PR Specialist

    The PR Specialist will report to the PR Manager and marketing team in development and coordination of putting the brand in front of media, influencers and local retail communities. It's essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of tending to the smallest details.


    • Retail Community Outreach/ Media Efforts
    • Primary contact for all regional media where Filson has retail stores
    • Development and weekly maintenance of regional calendars of PR events, pitches, press visits
    • Coordinate and host annual press events/previews for regional media where appropriate
    • Identify trends and topical stories that are brand relevant
    • Secure product write-ups for seasonal push products that support traffic to retail stores and to
    • Guide Seattle Flagship factory tours for visiting media and local community leaders
    • Product and Pitch coordination
    • Responsible for maintaining and ordering PR samples and product seeding samples
    • Act as the point person for all incoming product placement requests, photo asset requests and fact checking
    • Organize and track all PR samples
    • Process returns of loaned samples and previous season samples back to the distribution center for credit
    • Responsible for maintaining media contact lists for each retail region- including details like hobby and sizes
    • Collaborate with merchandising teams to ensure product viability and making go-forward recommendations on how to adjust plan if necessary
    • Draft product pitches, Q&A’s, fact sheets, store event alerts and proactively outreach to regional key editors, stylists, bloggers, event calendars and television producers to secure coverage
    • Manage and foster local media, local partner relationships and marketing/pr teams associated with store locations that exist in certain regions
    • Reporting
    • Maintain the hits and progress reports for who we’re pitching, along with national PR firm
    • Weekly hits reports and monthly activity reports distributed to all Filson employees
    • Internal PR for the Marketing Team- Collaborates with the team to prepare and disseminate weekly Filson “happenings” to Filson employees and external partners.



    • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or related field
    • At least 2 years of public relations, fashion and/or outdoor industry related is a plus
    • Strong editorial contacts are not required, but candidate should have basic knowledge of the industry
    • Strong PC and Mac computer skills.
