Fabric Manager
This position is a combination of product development and product sourcing. Responsible for new product and sourcing strategies to ensure successful execution of product introductions.
Sourcing duties include management of all aspects of domestic and international sourcing initiatives for raw materials.


  • Advise and consult on brand fabric needs and issues regarding aesthetics, quality, performance and technical characteristics, price, and production friendliness.
  • Adhere to calendar.
  • Develop, source, and/or resource seasonal fabrics based on brand needs and requirements.
  • Establish base level requirements per fabrication selected.
  • Initiate and manage mill contact and mill relationship.
  • Evaluate and establish mill base based on brand needs.
  • Request, review, evaluate, and act on fabric detail sheets from mills specific to selected fabrics.
  • Request, review, evaluate, and act on mill test reports for selected fabrics.
  • Review use of fabrics per garment style and determine care and quality concerns.
  • Secure, order, and track 1st and 2nd proto sample yardage.
  • Generate quality testing on any fabrics assessed as “risky”.
  • Help negotiate claims and resolve fabric issues with mills and between mill and garment vendor when needed.
  • Create and manage fabric spreadsheet.
  • Create and manage fabric by style spreadsheet.
  • Attend relevant fabric trade shows and maintain awareness of seasonal garment and fabric/yarn trend.
  • Visit mills and/or package 3rd party vendors for development, fabric and yarn selection, review of capabilities, and evaluation of performance. 



  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in fields of supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3-5 years new product development and product sourcing experience in a durables product company.
  • BS/BA degree.
  • Must have experience in apparel manufacturing, specifically in raw materials.
  • Must have a hands-on creative/design background
  • Must have understanding of yarns construction, Woven’s, Knits, Technical Fabrics .Yarn dye ,printing and finishes including wash.
  • A proven track record for effectively managing the entire product development process (from concept to reorder)
  • Ability to prioritize projects and daily activities based on commercially-driven factor
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily communication with clients
  • Must be able to travel extensively (35-50%)
