Traffic Manager

The Traffic Manager is responsible for efficiently and effectively scheduling and tracking the progress of all Filson digital and print projects for all channels from internal/external Clients through the Creative team. The Traffic Manager will have experience working at a fast pace in a team-oriented, collaborative environment under multiple simultaneous deadlines, and will be committed to upholding the integrity of and promoting Filson’s brand.


  • Create estimates, timelines, schedules, tasks, and budgets as necessary for new projects received from internal/external Clients
  • Review timelines with Clients for approval, including interim deadlines at each project stage; work with Clients to negotiate deadlines
  • Within budget limitations, outsource surplus work to freelancers and temporary contractors to ensure scheduled delivery
  • Assign tasks including but not limited to the following areas: Copy, graphics, image assets, outstanding photography, creative reviews, production, prepress, and delivery
  • Ensure that work is distributed equally and fairly between Creative staff
  • Reviews and understands Project Brief details prior to communication to the copywriter and/or designer, including a review of the deadlines to ensure minimal rush requests. Ensure that job requests have necessary information required to start the projects
  • Work with freelancers and temporary contractors to familiarize them with project overviews and in-house processes
  • Ensures that designers and copywriters assigned with specific tasks are executing them according to schedule and to meet ever-changing needs
  • Conduct productive and efficient Creative Reviews with approving parties
  • React to new developments promptly and efficiently
  • Reports any problems affecting job quality or due dates to the Creative Director and Art Directors
  • Conduct frequent meetings to review items/tasks assigned and due for the day and determine if there are any roadblocks; communicate issues with Creative/Marketing teams and Clients
  • Ensure that the work is being completed on schedule and budget
  • Track project status checkpoints to ensure that the work is being completed on schedule and budget
  • Submit job to accounting for invoicing when appropriate, assessing final vs. budgeted costs


  • Five years of experience as a Traffic Manager
  • Degree in advertising, marketing, or a related field
  • Relentless organization, uncompromising integrity, and a detail-oriented management style
  • Proficient with digital project/traffic management systems, ie. Basecamp
  • Proactive problem-solving; skillful and effective communication
  • Excellent ability to lead people and teams under tight deadlines
  • Agility and flexibility dealing with shifting schedules
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Desire to provide exceptional customer service
  • Capacity to interact well with outside clients as well as internal employees
  • Excellent proficiency with traffic management software
  • Thorough understanding of Marketing, Creative, and Accounting processes
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of workflow management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
