Restoration Department Assistant
The Restoration Department Assistant will report to the Director of Product Development and will have frequent contact with employees throughout the organization. This position is an integral part of the FRD development process. Candidates should be natural leaders with a strong outgoing, open, positive, engaging personality. This person should be willing, and comfortable, presenting in front of press, tour groups, and able to drive business through brand communication with new customers. In addition, this position will be supporting the FRD department as needed.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers/people in conversation to educate, and introduce, them to the FRD
• Passion/eye for vintage aesthetic and repair styles
• Basic Patternmaking
• Leather cutting, finishing
• Prepping fabric and leather for production
• Pattern cutting from limited, vintage materials
• Must know how to sew from start to finish, working in a timely manner to meet deadlines
• Know how to work variety of sewing/operating machines
• Disassemble bags and prepare for production
• Passion/eye for vintage aesthetic and repair styles
• Artistic sensibilities/strong eye for color, design
• Ability to proactively trouble shoot and problem solve
• Understand how to effectively follow calendar dates and how to organize workload to meet dates
• Support head FRD Coordinator as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

• Minimum 1 years sewing experience (single needle, walking foot, Camatron, bar track)
• Strong skills in time management, problem solving, trouble shooting
• Creative and artistic ability
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong aptitude to learn computer applications
• Workspace is in a highly visible location and must be able to answer customer questions in a manner that reflects the Filson spirit.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit or stand for extended period of times.
• Ability to repetitively push, pull, pinch, grab, reach, twist, push pedal with foot, squeeze with hands.
• Exposure to dust/dirt/used materials.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
